[Invisible Children Music: We firmly believe that music has a necessary role in giving social movements tremendous amounts of momentum. It is a universal language, and at Invisible Children, it’s important for us to be a part of that language.]

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, all. Invisible Children Music is back with another weekly dose of fresh music we can’t get off our minds and hearts. It seems like everyone in the music game is going extremely hard out the 2013 gate, so it’s difficult to choose only a small collection of noteworthy tracks.

Alas, here are the ten songs we’re offering up.

Listen to the continuous stream here and go to our SoundCloud [HERE] to explore the artists you like. Be sure to throw them some monetary love as well, either on BandCamp, iTunes, MySpace, PayPal – just support the arts.

01. JAKE BUGG – “Two Fingers” :: Jake Bugg is new by no means, but he’s the artist I’m most excited about currently. He debuted at #1 with his self-titled debut across the Atlantic, and he’s just now making his way stateside. He performed this track on Conan the other night, so it’s all up from here.

02. THEME PARK – “Tonight” :: I mainly know about the existence of this track because of the producer – my one true love Ed Macfarlane of the band Friendly Fires. It has all sorts of dancey vibes that I appreciate.

03. LILY & MADELEINE – “Back To The River” :: Reddit might have broken their first musical superstars. This sister duo from Indiana (s/o to my home state border) exploded online this past week. They’re a bit Birdy meets First Aid Kit. Their schedule is about to be quite busy.

04. HURTS – “Miracle” :: Hurts are one of my favorite groups, so it’s great to have them back. They do melodrama like no one else. This is the first single off their upcoming second record Exile, and it’s certainly a big track.

05. YADI – “The Blow” :: Our friend Johan Hugo from The Very Best produced this huge pop gem from underrated/soon-not-to-be musician. The chorus is diabolical.

06. BASTILLE – “Pompeii” :: This is a rip from Radio 1 (enjoy Huw Stephens’s explosive consonants at the end), but we couldn’t wait to put it on a mix. It’s going to be one of our favorite songs of 2013, which might seem a bit rushed given the date. Give it a listen and you’ll understand why we’re making such bold statements. On a personal note, it’s now on my bucket list to join that choir in the background of the track.

07. CHARLI XCX – “You (Ha Ha Ha)” :: She’ll never not be producing hits. 2013 will see the debut of her first full-length, and we’re waiting eagerly.

08. FLUME + CHET FAKER – “Left Alone” :: This track from Australian producer Flume with a feature from fellow countryman Chet Faker is a sneaky one – it will subtly work its way into your consciousness. We are all about the bluesy vox from Chet.

09. JAKE BELLOWS – “Help” :: Jake played with Whispertown at our 4th Annual Holiday Benefit Show back in December, so we were readily available to listen to his new cassette when our friend Caroline of Big Hassle reached out to us about it. You can hear band member Morgan Nagler on this cut as well.

10. THE POSTELLES + ALEX WINSTON – “Pretend It’s Love” :: Anything and everything Alex Winston, we are all over. King Con is one of the best records in recent years, and we’re going to create a very loud reminder on our phones when the date of her country concept EP is scheduled. This is off the forthcoming album from New York City’s The Postelles, for which we are going to be setting an additional reminder.
