Happy Monday to all you movers and shakers. Today’s Mini Mixtape is dedicated to the young people who may find themselves questioning their significance. Here at Invisible Children we believe that anyone can make a difference and we want you to believe it too.

The artists that make up this mix are all 21 and under. And they all make incredible music. Proof that your voice can be heard at any age. Maybe you didn’t know these musicians, or you didn’t know how young they were, but they’re out there doing their thing. And so can you. It’s an exciting new week people… Get into it!

01. Birdy – Terrible Love ::  Age 17. Though she now has a slew of beautiful original music, Birdy’s (Jasmine Van den Bogaerde) breakthrough came from her album of lovely covers (released when she was even younger than she is now). On this track she removes the increasing crescendo from The National’s “Terrible Love” and brings her voice to the forefront, showing that she’s got something worth listening to.

02. Vancouver Sleep Clinic – Collapse :: Age 18. VSC is the moniker of Tim Bettinson, whose tranquil sound doesn’t get in the way of the connection you instantly feel when listening to “Collapse”. It’s got a beat. The sound is ambient, yet the words are deep. It’s the perfect track for dreaming while you’re awake.

03. Mirror Signal – Broken Solider :: Age 19. Mirror Signal (the project of singer/songwriter & producer Steven Barker) combines a bit of everything. Jazz and soul. Rock and r&b. Electronic accents. Complex and touching lyrics. There’s a lot going on here…in a good way.

04. Jake Bugg – Note To Self :: Age 20. This track has a gentle melody and solid folk feel. Bugg thoughtfully croons, “You’ve been forgetting just how special you really are” before advising you to “write a note to yourself.” Given the fact that this youngster has already released two LPs, you might as well follow his advice.

05. Sky Ferreira – You’re Not The One :: Age 21. Only a couple years older than her song’s ranking on Time’s year-End List (#19), there’s a whole lot of pop/rock coming out of this increasingly popular young artist. Angsty and powerful, “You’re Not the One” is one track that won’t get old.
